About
How BrightPath Admissions works
BrightPath Admissions helps families find and compare independent educational consultants, or IECs, who support students through the US college-admissions process. Our matching service is free for families, and you stay in control of which counselor, if any, you choose to contact.
Grade level, what you'd like help with, your area, and how to reach you. A short description and contact details only — never grades, scores, or financial records.
We connect you with independent college-admissions counselors who fit your student's goals, timeline, and budget, at no cost to your family.
Talk to counselors about their approach, experience, package, and price. The right fit matters more than the biggest promise.
You decide which counselor to hire, if any. Confirm scope and price in writing before you start — and remember no honest counselor guarantees admission.
How the process works
We keep the process simple and clear so families can move forward with confidence.
1. Tell us what you need
You fill out a short form on Get matched. We ask practical questions, like your student’s grade level, your preferred language, and what kind of help you may be looking for.
2. We review your request
Our team looks at your answers and identifies independent educational consultants, or IECs, whose experience may fit your family’s goals, communication style, and timeline.
3. You receive counselor matches
We send you a small set of counselor options to review. You can compare their backgrounds, services, and approach before deciding whether to reach out.
4. You choose your next step
You decide if you want to speak with one or more counselors. There is no pressure to move forward, and no requirement to choose anyone.
What we ask, and what we do not ask
We only ask for basic information that helps us make a thoughtful match. The goal is to understand your situation without making the process feel overwhelming.
We may ask for:
- Parent and student names
- Email address and phone number
- Student’s current school year
- Preferred language
- General goals, such as college planning, application support, or transfer guidance
- Timing, such as whether you want help now or are planning ahead
We do not ask for highly sensitive information. For example, we do not ask for:
- Social Security numbers
- Financial account numbers
- Immigration status
- Full academic records
- Exact grades, Grade Point Average, or GPA, test scores, or detailed financial documents
If a counselor later explains that certain information would help them understand your situation, you can decide what you are comfortable sharing. BrightPath Admissions itself is an information and matching service, not a counselor, college, or admissions office.
What happens after you submit
After you send your form, our team reviews it and prepares your matches. We focus on fit, not volume. That means we try to send a manageable number of options instead of a long list that is hard to sort through.
Once you receive your matches, you can:
- Read about each counselor’s experience and areas of support
- Contact the counselors who seem like a good fit
- Ask questions about communication style, availability, and services
- Decide whether to schedule an introductory conversation
Independent educational consultants, or IECs, work in different ways. Some help with building a college list, some guide students through the Common Application, or Common App, and others focus on transfer, graduate school, or planning from earlier high school years. Many also help families understand deadlines such as Early Action, or EA, Early Decision, or ED, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, and the CSS Profile, which some colleges use to award institutional financial aid.
A counselor can coach a student through the process, but the student still does their own applications and writing. There are no guaranteed admissions outcomes, scholarships, or results.
Why families use BrightPath
For many families, the US college-admissions process feels unfamiliar. That is especially true for parents who are new to the system or more comfortable in a language other than English. BrightPath Admissions is built to make the first step easier.
Families use us because:
- Matching is free for families
- We explain the process in plain language
- We help families compare independent options
- We support multilingual and immigrant families across the US
- You choose the counselor, or choose none at all

Common questions
Does BrightPath Admissions provide counseling directly?
No. BrightPath Admissions provides educational information and free matching. Independent educational consultants, or IECs, provide counseling services if a family chooses to work with them.
Is the matching service really free for families?
Yes. Families do not pay to be matched. Participating counselors pay a flat fee to be included in the matching service.
Do I have to choose one of the counselors you send me?
No. You can review your matches and decide whether you want to contact anyone. There is no obligation.
Can you guarantee admission to a college or a scholarship?
No. No one can guarantee admission, scholarship outcomes, or specific results. A counselor can provide guidance and coaching, but outcomes depend on many factors.
