Disclaimer

BrightPath Admissions provides general educational information and a free way to connect with independent college-admissions counselors. We are not a college, an admissions office, or an Independent Educational Consultant (IEC), and we do not guarantee any result.

Educational information only

The information on BrightPath Admissions is meant to help families understand the United States college-admissions process in clear, practical language. This includes general topics such as application timelines, financial aid forms, testing policies, and how counseling can work.

Our content is educational. It is not personalized admissions counseling, legal advice, immigration advice, financial advice, tax advice, mental health care, or any other professional service.

BrightPath also offers free matching for families who want to connect with an Independent Educational Consultant (IEC). An IEC is a private college-admissions counselor who may offer one-on-one guidance. BrightPath does not provide that counseling itself. We help families learn about the process and connect with counselors who may be a good fit.

No guarantees, ever

College admissions is competitive and unpredictable. Financial aid and scholarship decisions also depend on many factors, including each college's policies, deadlines, available funding, and the accuracy and completeness of submitted materials.

Because of that, BrightPath does not promise or imply:

  • admission to any college or university
  • a specific scholarship or financial aid amount
  • a certain grade point average (GPA), which means a student's average grades over time
  • a test score
  • an admissions timeline or outcome

If you choose to work with an IEC, that counselor should not guarantee outcomes either. A counselor may help a student stay organized, understand options, and present their own work clearly, but no one can promise a final decision from a college.

Students are responsible for their own applications and essays. Counselors may coach and guide, but students must do their own work.

What BrightPath does, and what we do not do

BrightPath is a matching and information service. Matching is free for families. Participating counselors pay a flat fee to be included in our matching service.

What we do:

  • share general educational information about college admissions in the US
  • help families understand common terms and steps in the process
  • connect families with independent counselors based on their preferences
  • provide multilingual support for families who are more comfortable in a language other than English

What we do not do:

  • make admissions decisions
  • review applications as a college would
  • act as your personal IEC
  • complete applications for students
  • write or edit student essays
  • give legal, immigration, tax, or investment advice

If you want help finding a counselor, you can start at Get Matched. If you want to learn more about what counselors may offer, visit Services.

Please confirm details with the counselor and with each college

Policies can change. Deadlines, required forms, and application rules may differ from one college to another. A counselor's approach, services, availability, and pricing may also vary.

Before making decisions, confirm important details directly with the counselor and with the college, university, or official program involved. This is especially important for topics such as:

  • application deadlines and requirements
  • test policies
  • financial aid forms, including the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the CSS Profile, which are forms some colleges use to evaluate financial aid eligibility
  • application platforms such as the Common App, which is a shared application used by many colleges
  • admissions plans such as Early Action (EA) and Early Decision (ED), which are earlier application options with different rules

Families should also read each counselor agreement carefully before starting services. If something is unclear, ask questions. Good guidance should feel transparent, respectful, and easy to understand.

In plain English

BrightPath gives general information and free counselor matching, but only a counselor and each college can speak to your specific situation, and nobody can guarantee results.
